New Knoxville, Sept. 21—As previously reported the new school was sufficiently completed so that school sessions could get under way Monday, September 19th, and all is well save that the old familiar school bell is not heard beckoning the youth to their classes. It is sadly missed.

The corps of teachers for the school year 1938-1939 are: R. W. Kuhlman, Supt.; V. E. Katterheinrich, Principal; the Misses Luella Wierwille and Louise Young, Roger Stauffer and Frank Kelly, high school teachers. Clem R. Stienecker and the Misses Viola Mahn, Clara Deerhake, teachers of the four upper grades, which is departmentalized; Miss Edna Katterheinrich, grades 3 and 4; Miss Edith Katterheinrich, grade 2; and Mrs. Caroline Holtkamp, grade 1; Prof. F. F. Eversman, music teacher for grades and high school; Edward Schroer, janitor.

The school is completed all but the gym and several basement rooms which may require several weeks to finish. The Tiffin Scenic Studios arrived Monday to install the stage curtains and scenery including the drapes for the auditorium windows.

On the exterior workmen are busy grading the yard, to the front the huge piles of earth left there from the original excavation have been leveled down and a board walk constructed from the sidewalks to the main entrance. They are also constructing a driveway entering the school lot on the north side from Main street, circling the building and having its exit on the south side of the lot on Main street. Many things are yet uncompleted, but ere long everything will be put in shape, and the little inconveniences now to be endured will be forgotten.

Not a few of the citizens have asked the question “Will the Board of Education give no opportunity to view the new school?”, “Are they not even going to have dedication services?”, etc. In behalf of the Board we are privileged to say that just as soon as everything is the way it should be then there will be dedication services and an open house and all that wish may view, inspect and give the entire house the once over.

The enrollment of the school at Tuesday noon stood at: Grade 1, 25; Grade 2, 21; Grade 3, 16; Grade 4, 22; Grade 5, 25; Grade 6, 25; Grade 7, 28; Grade 8, 28; Freshmen, 19; Sophomores, 30; Juniors, 29; Seniors, 25: a total of 289.
